About the event

DenCoKID is proud to host the first-ever lighting of the Denver City and County Building in recognition of Dyslexia Awareness Month from 10/1/2022-10/7/2022. DenCoKID is a Denver nonprofit that is dedicated to supporting and advocating for Denver students with dyslexia (as well as other learning differences).

Why red, you may ask? We’re all familiar with the color red. It’s often associated with mistakes, corrections, crossing out, and disapproval. Since 2019, the Go Red For Dyslexia global campaign has strived to change the narrative and take back the feelings of shame and low self-esteem so many learners with dyslexia experience. This year, DenCoKID is helping to spread awareness for dyslexia by encouraging people to turn anything and everything red for the month of October!

Join DenCoKiD at the Denver City and County Building to see the lighting take place or stop by before Oct. 8th to take a photo and share it on social media using the hashtags #dyslexiaawareness #dencokid #saydyslexia.
